Job Title: Music Teacher – Secondary School
Location: Newham
Contract: Full-time, long-term
Start Date: September

Are you a qualified Music Teacher looking to inspire students through creativity, performance, and musical exploration?

A well-respected secondary school in the London Borough of Newham is seeking to appoint a talented and committed Music Teacher to join their team from September. This full-time, long-term position offers the chance to deliver a rich and engaging music curriculum in a setting that values arts education as an essential part of whole-child development.

The school benefits from excellent music facilities, including a dedicated music classroom, rehearsal spaces, and equipment for both traditional and digital music-making. The successful candidate will be supported by a collaborative department and a senior leadership team that promotes a strong creative ethos.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Teach Music across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with opportunities for KS5 depending on experience

2. Deliver lessons that develop students’ skills in listening, performing, composing, and music literacy

3. Support the preparation and delivery of school concerts, productions, and music enrichment activities

4. Foster an inclusive and stimulating classroom environment that encourages participation and creativity

5. Contribute to departmental planning, assessment, and the continued development of the music provision

6. Use a range of traditional and digital tools to support practical and theoretical learning

What We’re Looking For:

✔ UK QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or a recognised equivalent teaching qualification
✔ Experience teaching Music within a secondary school setting
✔ Strong understanding of the national curriculum, with a passion for making music accessible to all students
✔ Instrumental skills (keyboard or guitar desirable) and confidence leading group performances
✔ Knowledge of music technology ( GarageBand, Logic Pro, Sibelius) is beneficial but not essential
✔ A professional, well-organised individual committed to high standards in teaching and learning
