Pemberton Green Spaces volunteer

Join our community group, Pemberton Green Spaces (PGS) and help make a difference making a local area of Wigan more pleasant to live and work in, and benefit pollinators and other wildlife. We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help with a variety of activities.
You will need to be interested and willing to help deliver our projects that help improve outdoor spaces in Pemberton, Wigan for the benefit of local people and nature. Some flexibility is helpful to meet specific needs of an activity or project, though we will work with you to balance activities with your availability, strengths and interests.
Some activities require you attend in person in Pemberton, Wigan (for example, community gardening) while others can be done remotely (e.g. event organisation, fund raising).
We have various rewarding opportunities to get involved in our volunteer group:
* Joining in with our group events on the day. For example, planting or litter-picking
* Communications: planning and carrying out communication activities such as social media, designing and distributing
* Posters in the community, and local press.
* Fundraising and finance: monitoring for funding opportunities or planning fundraising activities.
* Source and buy materials needed for activities, as well as managing project finances.
* Planning and events coordination: planning activities/events and delivering these on the day.
* Monitoring planting sites or littering ‘grot spots’ to help inform what events are needed and where.
Roles may change and adapt depending on the ongoing goals of the group. We will also flex who does what, depending on volunteers available, their strengths and interests enabling you to flourish.
Depending on the role, we are looking for volunteers that can show the following skills, or be willing to develop them:
* Good communication
* Good organisational skills
* Adaptable
* Willingness to learn and get stuck in
* Ability to carry out hands on tasks, e.g. gardening or litter picking
* Some roles would benefit from skills in Google applications (e.g. Docs, Sheets), finance software or design software

Established in 2024, Pemberton Green Spaces is a volunteer group carrying out regular activities to improve outdoor spaces in Pemberton, Wigan, for the benefit of local people and nature. Our current main focus is implementing our ‘From Coal to Colour' planting project on Enfield Street, Pemberton.
The group is part of Pemberton Community Association, which has served the local community since 2003.
