Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provide specialist support, tailored to suit the young person's needs, as agreed with the DSS co-ordinator.
2. Prepare in advance of the support session and have all necessary resources for the session.
3. Adapt all training and support materials to make them user friendly and differentiated to support the young person.
4. Assist the DSS co-ordinator with the monitoring and evidencing of progress against performance targets set.
5. Provide weekly monthly updates to the DSS co-ordinator on the young person's progress through the completion of engagement records.
6. Stimulate and promote effective, learner - centred independent learning strategies for the young person to enable them to participate the heighten their motivation and self-esteem.
7. Maintain a confidential and effective system for processing and maintaining all internal documentation

The key job duties listed above give a broad outline of the functions of the role. However, these duties must be approached in a flexible manner. The job holder will be expected to adapt to changing circumstances and undertake other duties as allocated by your Line Manager. The outline of the job duties may change from time to time.

Essential Criteria:

8. 5 GCSE's at grade C or equivalent to include English and Maths
9. A minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role supporting people with Learning disabilities within a group environment and/ or on a one to one setting.
10. Effective 1:1 mentoring and motivational skills to encourage participants to undertake positive actions.
11. Ability to be flexible and adaptable- hours are flexible and may involve evening and weekend work as required.
12. Ability to demonstrate administrative skills with good record keeping
13. IT skills including Word, Excel, Outlook and Social Media use.
14. Knowledge of statutory services and relevant legislation especially child protection and safeguarding.
15. Understanding of the barriers faces by people with learning disabilities
16. A full current driving license and access to a car.

Desirable Criteria:

17. Experience of working in a learning environment
18. A level 3 Qualification

Successful applicants will be required to undertake an Access NI Disclosure check at a cost of £16/32. A person's criminal record will not, in itself, debar that person from being appointed to this post. Any information given will be treated in the strictest confidence.

Hours of Work:

19. Tuesdays & Wednesday - (12hpw)

Rate of Pay:

20. £ per hour
