An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Respiratory Team as a band 6 Physiotherapy team member. You will be expected to provide a high standard physiotherapy service undertaking all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner. This will assist the band 7 in providing expert clinic knowledge and support with on‑call training and band 5 development. You will make recommendations to the clinical lead/manager of the service for changes to practice by the team, and may lead the implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to the development of service protocols. Regular supervision and support is provided and there is a robust program of in‑service training to assist your development into a band 6 role. You will be expected in turn to support and supervise junior staff and students. On‑call participation is expected as part of this role.
Main duties of the job
Perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions. Use advanced clinical reasoning skills to provide a diagnosis and to develop and deliver an individualized treatment programme.
Responsible for managing own caseload and a defined area of the service, working without direct supervision.
Supervise, educate and assess physiotherapy students, assistants and staff grade physiotherapists and provide specialised advice to other health care professionals in the specific clinical area.
Undertake evidence‑based audit and research projects to further own and team’s clinical practice.
Make recommendations to clinical lead/manager of service for changes to practice by the team. May lead the implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to development of service protocols.
Formulate and deliver an individual treatment programme based on this assessment and on knowledge of evidence based practice and treatment options using specialised clinical assessment, reasoning skills and knowledge of treatment skills.
Assess and manage clinical risk within own and delegated patient caseloads.
Develop the services provided in critical care.
Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
* Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy
* HCPC Registered
* Full UK Driving Licence
* Relevant courses and training
Knowledge, Training & Experience
* Range of clinical rotational experience
* Respiratory on‑call competent or in process of achieving this in next 3 months
