Community Administrator – Coastal Community Nursing (Band 3)

Job Ref: 201-26-468-A | Location: Site Unit 4, Underground House, Town Truro | Salary: £25,760 – £27,476 per annum | Contract: Permanent | Hours: 37.5 per week (rotating 7 days, including weekends and bank holidays)

Job Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced administrator to support the Coastal Community Nursing Team as part of the Community Nurse Team. The role involves managing referrals, maintaining electronic records, supporting staff with rosters, appointments, document management and liaising with patients, carers and other professionals. Work will include some weekend duties on a rota system.

Main Duties

  • Managing referrals via electronic and clinical record‑keeping systems.
  • Arranging meetings, preparing agendas, taking notes and distributing papers.
  • Supporting clinical staff by liaising with patients, gathering information from MDT and using electronic systems to ensure safe communication.
  • Assisting with HR, workforce and recruitment paperwork.
  • Acting as first point of contact for telephone enquiries from patients, relatives, carers, health and social care professionals, referrers and the general public; answering, directing and maintaining accurate messages.
  • Sorting and managing incoming mail and stock deliveries.

Person Specification

Education, qualifications and experience

  • NVQ level 3 in Administration or equivalent experience.
  • Computer literate and competent in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.

Skills and aptitude

  • Ability to prioritise own workload and work unsupervised.
  • Organisation skills and accuracy.

Knowledge and abilities

  • Accurate typing and keyboard skills.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare office environment.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of CFT IT systems.
