Maths Lecturer – Worcester & Malvern (Part‑time, 29.6 hours per week) – Closing date 18 June 2026.
Job Summary
Deliver high‑quality teaching, learning and assessment in GCSE and functional maths for a diverse student body. Support learners’ progress, develop curriculum, and contribute to the college’s inclusive culture.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan, prepare, teach and assess lessons, using schemes of work and lesson plans.
* Monitor learner progress, provide timely, constructive feedback and support learning goals.
* Conduct initial and diagnostic assessments, and milestone assessments as agreed with the Head of Maths.
* Maintain accurate records of attendance, achievement and progress; share with stakeholders.
* Address attendance, behaviour and engagement issues in partnership with curriculum teams.
* Contribute to curriculum development through meetings and collaboration.
* Support learner progress reporting and parent engagement activities.
* Assist with administrative tasks including learner data and group organisation.
* Participate in verification and standardisation activities where required.
* Keep up to date with developments and qualifications in maths and related fields.
* Attend staff meetings and training events to improve practice.
Key Roles and Accountabilities
* Deliver innovative and engaging teaching and assessment to enhance learner achievement.
* Proactively raise learner aspirations and raise attainment from their starting points.
* Teach an agreed programme of hours across all campuses, including revision and intervention sessions.
* Produce and develop teaching resources to support delivery.
* Maintain accurate and timely information on learner attendance, achievement and progress.
* Liaise with vocational teams to address attendance, behaviour and engagement issues.
* Attend staff meetings to develop and improve curriculum.
* Support learner progress evenings and parents’ engagement.
* Take part in administrative activities related to learner entry qualifications and group lists.
* Participate in verification and standardisation activities where required.
* Keep up to date with maths qualifications and developments.
* Liaise with other departments (Exams, MIS) as appropriate.
* Commit to safeguarding, equality, diversity and health and safety policies.
* Attend training and CPD activities as per the College’s scheme.
* Support the College’s quality system and performance management scheme.
Qualifications
* Teaching qualification or willingness to obtain the Certificate in Education and Training within 2 years of appointment.
* Minimum level 2 qualification in both English and Maths; if not held, must be obtained during employment.
* Experience teaching maths at GCSE or equivalent level.
* Strong organisation, communication and interpersonal skills.
Conditions of Service – Academic Staff
* The appointment is subject to the Conditions of Service for Academic Staff.
* Work pattern is part‑time, 29.6 hours per week; hours may vary by campus.
* All successful applicants will undergo DBS checks, reference checks and qualification validation.
* Annual leave: 37 days plus public holidays and five concessionary days.
* Occupational pension scheme – Teachers Pensions.
* Probationary period: 9 months with mandatory induction and training requirements.
Salary
Unqualified lecturers: £21,349.60 – £24,602.40 per annum.
Qualified lecturers: £25,202.40 – £33,130.40 per annum. Salary increases are integrated annually after successful probation.
