Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Geomorphologist and River Restoration Project Lead to join our UK Water team. You will be responsible for high‑quality project delivery, including planning, managing, modelling, and designing sustainable geomorphology and river restoration schemes for national and international projects.
Key Projects (examples)
* Re‑meandering detailed design and construction supervision for the River Breamish (River Till‑Tweed SSSI, SAC, Northumberland).
* Re‑meandering detailed design and construction supervision for the River Eye SSSI, Leicestershire.
* Re‑meandering modelling and design for the River Cocker, Cumbria.
* Nature recovery and wetland restoration for estates in Northumberland.
* Landscape‑scale river restoration and natural flood management planning in the North York Moors National Park.
* Weir removals and fish passes across England, Wales and Scotland.
* River basin‑scale restoration planning for the Environment Agency and multiple water companies.
* Programmes of WFD, BNG and MoRPh surveys for river restoration across the UK and Ireland.
* Geomorphological management plans, landslide and flood hazard analysis in New Zealand.
Core Responsibilities
* Lead planning, design, and delivery of river restoration schemes.
* Apply geomorphological, hydromorphological and sediment transport modelling techniques.
* Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and manage project timelines and budgets.
* Supervise contractors and ensure compliance with CDM regulations.
* Provide technical coaching to peers and junior team members.
* Engage with clients, regulators, and stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes.
Required Expertise
* Geological geomorphology / hydromorphology.
* River restoration and engineering.
* Detailed design and contractor supervision.
* Hydraulic and sediment transport modelling.
* Project management and multi‑disciplinary coordination.
Team & Culture
