Role and responsibilities
* Day to day, undertake mechanical fitting activities, repairs and inspections on systems and equipment in our EHJ facility and, when required, in other sections including the Estate.
* Complete all planned preventative maintenance and nuclear-implicated work to ensure the department meets business objectives.
* Identify and rectify system, manufacturing defects and alterations to ensure continued availability and performance of EHJ systems.
* Ensure work is carried out in line with current processes; suggest improvements to increase productivity within set objectives and timescales.
* Work within all H&S legislation, Safe Systems of Work and control of work processes within BM&T Clyde policy.
Essential Experience Of The Mechanical Fitter
* Previous experience within a marine/industrial engineering environment and/or experience with mechanical maintenance.
* Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces and in inclement weather conditions.
* Ability to read drawings and think on your feet with strong fault-finding and attention to detail.
* Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work to meet rigorous acceptance standards.
* Experience of maintenance procedures, risk and COSHH assessments, Safe Systems of Work with excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
36 hour working week. 8:05 to 16:45 Monday to Thursday; 07:15 - 16:45 with a 3-day weekend. Onsite at RNAD Coulport.
Qualifications
* Recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship qualified to SVQ Level 3 (or NVQ or C&G equivalent) or HNC and above in a Mechanical Engineering discipline with industry experience.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Some roles require national security clearance; details are available at GOV.UK.
