Band 5 MSK Physiotherapist (South Wiltshire)
Help people move better, recover faster, and regain confidence in their everyday lives. This role is part of a growing Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy service that works closely with local GP practices, Orthopaedic and Rheumatology consultants, midwives and other healthcare professionals. The service is based primarily at Five Rivers Leisure Centre, Salisbury, with additional working at Wilton Health Centre, Amesbury Health Centre and a number of local GP practices.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide a safe, patient‑focused, evidence‑based physiotherapy service in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and contribute to ongoing service improvement.
* Assess, plan, implement and evaluate physiotherapeutic interventions and provide clinically effective treatment for patients.
* Act as an autonomous practitioner, seeking clinical support when required and working within scope of competence.
* Provide local physiotherapy services in satellite locations as required.
* Work in accordance with Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Standards and national/local guidelines.
* Maintain professional and legal accountability, safe practice and mandatory record keeping.
* Keep up‑to‑date evidence‑based knowledge and skills, maintaining competence in a range of physiotherapeutic skills.
* Contribute to audits, outcome evaluation and formulation of action plans.
* Integrate with multidisciplinary teams across Wiltshire.
Essential Criteria
* HCPC registration as a Physiotherapist
* Degree (BSc or equivalent) in Physiotherapy
* Completion of recognised physiotherapy clinical placements
* Evidence of ongoing CPD and reflective practice relevant to the role
* Experience treating MSK, respiratory and orthopaedic patients
* Experience delivering class‑based rehabilitation or exercise programmes
* Experience participating in clinical and/or operational audits
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, with accurate clinical record keeping
* Ability to communicate effectively with individuals who have communication difficulties
* Good organisational and time‑management skills, managing a varied caseload
* Apply clinical reasoning to assess, diagnose and manage a range of conditions
* Work autonomously while recognising when to seek supervision or specialist advice
Desirable Criteria
* Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP)
* MSK, community or acute‑based training or experience
* Completion of accredited training courses
* Experience working at Band 5 level, including rotational posts
* Experience of working within the NHS
* Ability to communicate effectively with patients requiring interpreter support
* Experience working as a sole practitioner where required
* Ability to independently manage and appropriately refer patients with non‑MSK presentations
* Presentation and teaching skills to support in‑service or external training
* Experience leading or supporting team activities where appropriate
