This role will cover Hampshire and can be contractually based out of our Portsmouth or Basingstoke office. This is a full time, permanent role working 37 hours per week. Whilst we’ll try to keep you local, you’ll need to be prepared to travel to and work from our other locations in Hampshire and bordering counties. This is a hybrid role with a minimum of 20% of this to be office based to promote collaboration and team working within the team and other colleagues across the business. You’ll undertake property surveys, diagnose building defects, and prepare detailed specifications to ensure repairs comply with legislation and professional standards. You’ll coordinate works between our property service repairs team and external contractors, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and customer satisfaction. You’ll work closely with our repairs supervisors to support them on a day-to-day basis with technical enquiries as well as managing your own repairs and projects, carrying out pre/post/work in progress surveys to determine what repairs and maintenance works are needed. Alongside surveying, you’ll also be responsible for contractor management, including monitoring performance against KPIs, holding regular contract meetings, and ensuring compliance with H&S policies. Ultimately, the Repairs Surveyor plays a vital role in balancing technical expertise, contractor management, and customer service to deliver effective property maintenance. You’ll have contract management experience and building pathology / surveying experience, as well as experience producing specification for works. Excellent technical knowledge, building pathology knowledge, and diagnostic skills are essential for the role. You’ll have the interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with contractors and other external stakeholders, as well as various teams across the business. Ideally you will have a relevant technical qualification (building related and/or project manager related). While it’s not essential to have previous experience working in social housing, knowledge of the sector would be advantageous. You’ll be confident using IT and systems, and will have good overall knowledge & experience of providing a repairs & maintenance service, including health & safety processes and procedures. As this role involves travel a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use is a requirement. Business mileage will be paid. This role requires a basic DBS check.
