We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team. The successful candidate will oversee and manage all commercial aspects of our projects and be responsible for ensuring the profitability, efficiency, and contractual compliance from inception through to completion. The role requires excellent communication skills, financial acumen, and keen negotiation skills to work with contractors, suppliers, and clients.


Key Responsibilities:


Financial Management:

o Prepare, review, and manage project budgets, ensuring cost control and profitability.

o Develop cost plans and forecasts, including identifying areas of risk and opportunities for cost savings.

o Monitor performance of all commercial activities and prepare monthly reports to present at board level.

o Monitor project cash-flow and ensure that payments are received and made according to agreed terms.

o Assist in monthly reconciliations of work in progress with Finance team.

o Manage retention release on each project as and when due.


Contract Management:


o Assist with contracts, including negotiating, drafting, and management of, with clients, contractors, and suppliers.

o Ensure all contractual obligations are met and any disputes are resolved in a timely and professional manner.

o Review and advise on the implications of contract changes, claims, and variations.

o Collaborate with legal teams to ensure compliance with local regulations, building codes, and industry standards.


Procurement and Supply Chain Management:

o Lead procurement strategies and sourcing of materials, ensuring cost-effective and high-quality suppliers are engaged.

o Manage supplier and subcontractor relationships to ensure quality and timely delivery of goods and services.

o Oversee the negotiation of supplier and subcontractor terms to ensure favourable agreements and mitigate risks.


Risk Management:

o Identify, assess, and manage project risks related to cost, time, quality, and health and safety.


Quality Control and Standards Compliance:

o Ensure adherence to quality standards, ensuring all work meets or exceeds client expectations.

o Conduct regular site visits to monitor subcontractor progress against valuations and quality of work.


Client and Stakeholder Management:

o Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and consultants.

o Attend meetings in a client facing capacity and represent the company’s commercial interests.


Key Requirements:

• Qualifications:

o Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related field.

o Chartered status (MRICS or equivalent) is preferred but not essential.


Experience:

o Track record of successfully delivering projects on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards.

o Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement processes, and risk management.

o Experience working with HNW clients.


Skills and Abilities:

o Exceptional financial management skills, with a deep understanding of cost control, budgeting, and forecasting.

o Strong negotiation and contractual skills.

o Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.

o Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.

o Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

o Proficiency with project management software and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).

o Awareness of construction estimating software such as Conquest would be advantageous but not required.

o Previous experience with use of an ERP system would be advantageous but not required.


Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time

Hours: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
