An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Ultrasound Radiology Department Assistant (Band 3) to join our friendly and professional ultrasound team at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.
This key role supports the smooth, safe and efficient running of the Ultrasound Department across our three locations: Conquest Hospital, Eastbourne District General Hospital and the Bexhill Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC).
We are looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and motivated team player with a strong work ethic and excellent communication skills. The successful candidate will work closely with sonographers, radiologists and other healthcare professionals to provide high‑quality patient care and administrative support within a busy ultrasound department.
Responsibilities
* Assist with a variety of ultrasound and interventional examinations.
* Prepare and maintain clinical areas and ultrasound rooms.
* Ensure patients feel comfortable and well informed throughout their visits.
* Act as a chaperone for sonographers and Consultant Radiologists during general and Obstetric ultrasound lists and provide reassurance and support during sensitive or complex scans.
* Manage stock, book ward patients and perform departmental audit for clinical governance.
* Work across all three sites with one main base and be flexible in approach to work.
* Flexible working would be considered.
Work Hours
* Eastbourne District General Hospital – 08:30 to 16:30 (30 min lunch)
* The Conquest Hospital – 08:30 to 17:00 (1 h lunch due to consultant clinics)
* Bexhill Community Diagnostic Centre – 09:00 to 17:00 (30 min lunch)
Qualifications & Skills
* Previous NHS experience within an ultrasound healthcare setting is preferred.
* Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to patient care.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Flexibility to work across multiple sites.
