The role

OVERVIEW

Based between Stratford and Bow, East London, FLETCHERWILSON is a fun, friendly, hardworking team of creatives dedicated to producing thought provoking, engaging, intelligent films that promote our clients products and services. We have a wealth of experience in conference & events coverage, promo films, graphics and animation, pitch films, product walkthroughs and more.

Here’s a bit more about us: Instagram / team FW

The position is 5 days a week (Mon – Fri) working 09.30 - 18.00. However, the nature of the industry means there will need to be flexibility with these hours from time to time. Overtime will likely also be required as and when needed.

Under normal circumstances the role is mixed between being located in the office/studio and out on location in the UK, however there may be some international travel involved. A clean driving license and UK/EU passport are necessary.

This is a challenging full time role with plenty of scope for further development and career enhancement. You will therefore need strong organisational, administrative and communication skills, an excellent eye for detail and be calm and accurate under pressure.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

We’re looking for a talented and self-motivated, proactive equipment nerd who’s versatile enough to work across a variety of projects in different technical roles. You’re a Vision Mixer who knows about streaming and you’re a Camera Op who can light simple setups and deal with sound.

We expect the successful applicant to thrive on the challenge of the role and eventually focus on one discipline as their area of expertise while having a thorough working knowledge of the others.

The successful applicant will need to combine creative and technical skills and demonstrate the ability to logically problem solve technical issues, sometimes under the time constraints of live events and all while maintaining meticulous attention to detail and client focus. They will be involved in many aspects of a production - from technically conceiving a project to managing and delivering it - within a growing, award winning production company. This is an opportunity to get in at ground level, become an integral part of the team and make your mark on the company. We also aim to support our staff to achieve any professional goals they set themselves outside the normal framework of FW jobs.

YOU:

  • MUST BE: Skilled in basic live event Camera Operating and Vision Mixing, streaming (Wirecast & VMix + ability to pick up an run with other platforms)
  • NICE TO HAVE: Interview lighting (both studio & location), sound recording & video editing experience
  • YOU LOVE: looking after and speccing equipment, whether it’s ours or hired in
  • YOU WANT TO: Own this role and develop it further, with a view to building out a team to help you
  • Conscientious and flexible - able to apply yourself to not just the cooler promo shoots, but longer form events with equal dedication.
  • Team player - like working in a tight knit team and pulling your weight wherever the opportunity presents itself.
  • A perfectionist on each and every project, willing to step up and lead to avoid complacency amongst other crew if necessary.
  • Proactive, you can take a brief for a project and run with it, adding value and quality where and when you can.
  • You’ll be able to identify things we can do better and implement strategies to develop your part of the company to be the best it can be
  • You’ll have great interpersonal skills, able to work in a very professional team, but not take yourself too seriously.
  • Enthusiastic and a positive influence within the team.
  • Happy to muck in with everyone to answer the phones, make tea and coffee, and help with general office duties where required.

THE JOB:

In the office:

  • Responsible for managing our shooting equipment and technical aspects of our new studio.
  • Manage our equipment rental / booking system which encompasses the studio, the equipment in the studio and the other filming equipment that FW own.

  • Looking after booking and coordinating freelance crew and cross hired equipment.
  • Light & shoot productions in the studio if required
  • Helping with Post Production - basic packaging edits using Adobe CC for conferences filmed on site or training films shot in our studio.

  • Camera Directing and Vision Mixing smaller events - ensuring the cameras are positioned to provide adequate coverage and the live mix is suitable for the client’s requirements.
  • Operating cameras on corporate events - either as part of a multi-cam setup or shooting B-Roll, Vox Pops and simple interview setups.
  • Logistics - arranging transport for kit and crew.
