Job Title: Customer Service Advisor Waste Services (Office-Based)
Location: Rotherham (S66)
Salary: £12.85 per hour (PAYE)
Contract: Full-time, Temporary (6-month contract)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am 4:00pm
Start Date: ASAP
Clearance: Basic DBS required
Job Overview
Rotherham Local Authority is seeking a reliable and professional Customer Service Advisor to join the Waste Services team on a 6-month temporary contract. This is an office-based role dealing primarily with waste-related enquiries and complaints.
Youll be the first point of contact for residents, handling a high volume of calls, emails, and bookings, and taking payments where necessary. This role is perfect for someone with strong communication skills, a calm and professional telephone manner, and a confident grasp of IT systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Handle incoming phone calls regarding waste collection, complaints, missed bins, and other waste-related services
* Respond to resident emails and enquiries in a timely and professional manner
* Process payments and bookings for additional services or special collections
* Accurately input and update records using Microsoft Excel and Word
* Log complaints and escalate issues where appropriate
* Liaise with operational waste teams and other internal departments
Essential Requirements
* Previous experience in a customer service or call handling environment
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
* Must be IT literate and comfortable navigating multiple systems
* Basic DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance is required prior to start
