The NHS Wales Financial Management Graduate Scheme offers you the opportunity to work across the breadth of the finance function giving you a host of valuable and varied experiences in areas such as financial management, business partnering and financial planning.
What you’ll do
* Work across the finance function and rotate through a number of placements to gain experience and a solid grounding in all aspects of NHS finance.
* Participate in centrally provided placements on core financial services such as accounts payable and payroll, provided centrally by the Shared Services Partnership.
* Engage in placements in other NHS Wales organisations to broaden experience in year 2 and year 3.
* Study for an accredited professional accountancy qualification (ACCA) over 3 years and aim to achieve this qualification to graduate from the scheme.
* Receive first-class training and mentor support with a generous study package.
* Be supported through formal activities, opportunistic events and guidance from a Graduate Lead as responsibilities and complexity increase over the duration of the programme.
* Enter a finance role in one of our NHS Wales organisations for the duration of the scheme commencing September 2026 (3-year fixed term post with possible extension of up to 10 months, dependent on conditions).
Qualifications and requirements
* Hold a minimum 2:2 degree (awarded by July 2026).
* Strong desire for a career in NHS leadership, with passion, curiosity, drive and determination to make a difference.
* Willingness to undertake professional accountancy training (ACCA) and to graduate from the scheme by completing the qualification.
Placement and study details
Most time will be based within the finance department of your employing organisation. You will rotate through placements to gain experience in NHS finance. There are centrally provided placements on core financial services and other NHS Wales organisations to broaden experience in years 2 and 3.
There are opportunities for flexible/agile working where possible, balancing learning with community needs and opportunities to learn from colleagues.
