Senior Civil & Geotechnical Engineer – Woking. The role focuses on foundation design and geotechnical engineering for both onshore and offshore projects, providing specialist geotechnical inputs, developing engineering scopes for ground investigations, reviewing and analysing geotechnical data (new and legacy), and preparing reports and guidance to support project delivery.
As part of our recruitment drive, we are looking for high‑calibre talent to strengthen Front End and Detailed Engineering capability across Low‑Carbon/Energy Transition projects (CCUS, Green Hydrogen, Offshore Wind, etc.) and traditional energy sector projects.
The position follows a hybrid working model: office and remote work, with a requirement to be in the Woking office four days a week.
Responsibilities
* Work as a specialist engineer on feasibility, concept, FEED, detailed design, or EPC/EPCM projects, onshore and offshore.
* Serve as a subject specialist in civil, foundation, and geotechnical engineering.
* Possess additional capability in civil or structural engineering roles (advantageous).
* Be technically responsible for the civil, foundation, retaining structure, and geotechnical aspects of project deliverables; coordinate with Kent specialists and third‑party consultants, including supervision, review, and checking activities.
* Formulate resolutions to technically challenging or high‑profile issues and communicate effectively with project engineers, project management, and clients.
* Undertake specialist reviews of civil and geotechnical engineering aspects based on high competency.
* Supervise, review and check civil and geotechnical engineering activities.
* Work to the requirements of the Civil/Structural Design Manual.
* Identify and resolve discrepancies and divergences from the original proposal/contract by raising technical queries and tracking changes within the management of change framework.
* Participate in engineering design reviews and provide all necessary geotechnical/civil input and support to close‑out actions.
* Review relevant ITB documents submitted for proposals and scopes of work received from clients.
* Plan and identify technical requirements throughout the project, liaising with the CSA group manager on these matters.
* Liaise with Kent Global Execution Centre (GEC) as needed to develop the project.
* Provide support to procurement/proposals, including ground investigations, geotechnical investigations, site surveys, and specialist technical services; prepare scopes of work, technical requisitions and bid documentation, and provide technical bid evaluation support and oversight during execution.
Requirements
* Master’s degree in engineering; postgraduate and/or specialist qualifications in geotechnical engineering are advantageous.
* Chartered status preferred; experience in the Oil and Gas sector or Low‑Carbon Energy Transition industry is desirable.
* In‑depth technical knowledge of civil engineering, foundations, retaining structure design, and onshore and offshore geotechnical engineering in the energy, process plant and industrial development sectors.
* Hands‑on skills with engineering software: Staad‑Pro, Mat 3D, Tekla TEDDS, hand calculations, MS Excel, MathCAD, SACS‑PSI, L‑Pile, GRLWEAP (or equivalents).
* Additional capability in structural engineering is an advantage.
* Exposure to consultancy studies, FEED, detailed design and EPC projects.
* Comprehensive knowledge of international and industry specifications, standards and codes for onshore and offshore projects in the UK and worldwide.
