Responsibilities
As a Health Professions Council (HCPC) registered Biomedical Scientist, you will lead and supervise the day‑to‑day delivery of a diagnostic service of Clinical Biochemistry. This includes the Automation section (2 x Cobas 8000 and P612), Immunology (Phadia 250), HbA1c’s (TOSOH G11), EQA section and Osmo1. You will work closely with senior staff in Haematology, Blood Bank and specimen reception to ensure the smooth running of the blood sciences service. The post holder will be a laboratory specialist lead and lead a team, either working alone or as a leader of a laboratory team to implement policies and procedures that support departmental, national or professional guidance and policies. Main duties include providing advanced Biomedical Science technical support within a section by training, advising, technical development, troubleshooting and supervision; supervising and coordinating validation and verification as required; day‑to‑day management of staffing and operational duties within the Biochemistry section; overseeing stock control and ordering of reagents and consumables across all sections; and updating training documents to maintain IBMS training approval and UKAS standards.
