Are you looking for an opportunity to work in a hospital pharmacy setting and study for a fully funded Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy? Does the prospect of being supported to develop and progress from band 6 to band 7 appeal to you? If your answer to these questions is yes, then we have just the role for you!
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed pharmacist/trainee pharmacist to join our Pharmacy team in Summer 2026. York Hospital has an excellent clinical pharmacy training programme, tailored to develop your clinical skills and meet individual needs. This post includes a fully funded two-year Postgraduate Diploma in Foundation Pharmacy Practice with the University of Bradford, with the option to complete the non‑medical prescribing module if not already a non‑medical prescriber. You will be provided a work‑based supervisor and allocated study time.
This is a band 6 to band 7 progression post. After being in post for at least 12 months and demonstrating you have met the key responsibilities based on the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s Advanced Pharmacy Framework, you will be eligible for progression into a band 7 role.

Qualifications
We welcome applications from registered pharmacists and those who are currently in their Foundation Training Year, expecting to join the General Pharmaceutical Council register in Summer 2026.
Responsibilities

You will gain clinical rotational experience across a full range of specialities, including acute medicine, elderly care, respiratory, cardiology, gastroenterology, stroke, diabetes and surgery, as well as departmental rotations including aseptics and radiopharmacy. You will work as part of a team with medicines‑management technicians and assistants and be supported by specialist pharmacists in each area. You will also have a four‑month rotation at a neighbouring Mental Health Hospital, Foss Park Hospital, to gain mental health experience.
A comprehensive induction, training and ongoing support is provided for all new staff.
This post is based at York Hospital and core service hours are Monday – Friday 08:45 am until 5:15 pm. The post includes participation in weekend, bank holiday and on‑call rotas.
