Role: Student Engagement Officer – Ongoing Recruitment
Location: Bedfordshire – Central Bedfordshire College and Bedford College Campuses
Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £23,557 and £25,849 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications, People’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.
Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 38 weeks per year

About the role:
We are currently seeking Student Engagement Officers to join our Student Services department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Student Engagement Officer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
1. Promoting Positive Behaviour – Actively encourage respectful conduct and college values across campus, challenging inappropriate behaviour and supporting high standards of engagement.
2. Student Support & Supervision – Monitor social spaces, ID compliance, and student presence; offer direct advice and refer students to appropriate support when needed.
3. Collaboration & Communication – Work closely with curriculum, estates, safeguarding, and development teams to address behaviour concerns and enhance the student experience.
4. Enrichment & Development – Contribute to enrichment activities that promote personal growth, behaviour, and attitudes, while supporting wider team initiatives and events.
5. Compliance & Professionalism – Maintain accurate records, uphold safeguarding, EDI, and health & safety policies, and engage in ongoing professional development.
About you:
6. Qualifications & Training – Level 2 in English and Maths required; enhanced DBS clearance; willingness to undertake First Aid and a recognised professional qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 4 in youth work or teaching).
7. Experience & Knowledge – Experience working with 16–24-year-olds in education or youth settings; understanding of behaviour management, safeguarding, and barriers to learning
8. Skills & Attributes – Empathetic, non-judgemental, and motivational with strong interpersonal, communication, and IT skills; able to maintain accurate records and professional boundaries.
9. Teamwork & Flexibility – Collaborative, dependable, and adaptable; willing to work evenings/weekends and support cross-departmental initiatives and events.
10. Commitment & Professionalism – Passionate about student success, equality, and inclusion; contributes to team goals, shares knowledge, and engages in ongoing professional development.
