We are seeking a motivated and experienced person to lead on developing and implementing the British Library's Content Strategy for contemporary published content, which determines what material the Library acquires, why and for whom.
You will work as part of a wider Steering Group ensuring the Content Strategy is taken forward and implemented across the Library, in all collection areas.
You will lead the Content Strategy & Services team, which includes the following functions: conducting qualitative user research to provide evidence of user needs, supporting content development plans and other policies to implement the Content Strategy, selection and collection management acquisition activity in line with Content Strategy Guiding Principles and providing value for money from the acquisitions budget, and subject librarian functions to enable people to find and use information. You will be a strong people manager, able to support and develop your team to fulfil their roles and grow in skill and experience over time.
To be successful in this role you must have a strong track record of achievement in developing and implementing collection development policies/content strategy, ideally gained in a research library workplace. You must have strong experience of content strategy implementation to effectively meet user needs. And you must have the clarity of purpose to ensure that content development and management aligns with wider Library strategy and the priorities of the Department, working collaboratively with the Director and as part of the department management team.
This is an exciting opportunity to help improve the Library's collection and services so that they meet the needs of researchers of all kinds, now and in the future.
