We have committed to being a net zero organisation by 2030. Defra Group Fleet Services is responsible for leading the fleet transition to net carbon zero.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a team of fleet specialists to support delivery of these ambitious fleet targets and drive tangible change. You will work in a team of contract specialists, supporting delivery of a varied work programme of purchase and service contracts on behalf of the Environment Agency and our Defra Partners. You will work with colleagues across the organisation to identify business needs, determine contract strategy, and lead tender processes including award of contracts.
You will lead on relationships with key suppliers. You will manage contracts through the whole lifecycle, develop and monitor KPIs, work with suppliers to reduce environmental footprint, maintain a cost-effective fleet and ensure we deliver our legal and health & safety responsibilities. Excellent relationship management and influencing skills are critical to the role.
Team
Defra Group Fleet Services (DGFS) is a national team that provides a collaborative fleet service across the Defra group. We are part of the Strategy, Transformation & Assurance Directorate. The Contracts team works with colleagues to develop contract requirements, determine and award contracts, and manage supplier performance to ensure operational delivery of contracted services. The role will report to the Fleet Manager for Contracts.
Responsibilities
* Develop and implement contract strategy for a varied programme of purchase and service contracts.
* Lead tender processes and manage contract award in collaboration with the Environment Agency and Defra Partners.
* Manage supplier relationships across the contract lifecycle; monitor performance and KPIs.
* Collaborate with colleagues to identify business needs and ensure alignment with environmental targets.
* Ensure compliance with legal, health & safety, and environmental requirements.
Experience / Skills Required
* Establish and maintain good relationships with internal and external partners to understand and influence activities and promote Environment Agency goals.
* Provide advice and guidance as an expert in fleet contracts, developing solutions within policy/best practice guidelines.
* Contribute to development of Environment Agency policy and process at national/local level; monitor and advise on effective implementation.
* Develop and implement systems for monitoring and reporting on service delivery; interpret operational performance/compliance and advise senior managers.
* Ability to ensure suppliers deliver contract standards.
* Experience of procurement processes within Defra is desirable.
* Well organised and a self-starter.
Role specifics
* Full UK Driving Licence.
* Location is flexible; comfortable working in a dispersed team with remote working and occasional office attendance and national meetings, possibly with overnight stays.
