This is an excellent opportunity to join the Media team of a non-departmental public body based in Brighton.
Your new role
As a Media Officer, you’ll join a proactive and high‑performing media relations team. You will play a central role in shaping and strengthening the organisation's reputation, delivering high‑impact media activity, and tellingpelling stories about the organisation’s work.
You will:
1. Act as a trusted point of contact for journalists, stakeholders, andernment bodies, managing media enquiries using agreed lines to take.
2. Craft and pitch high‑quality press releases, articles, blogs, and podcasts to trade, national, broadcast and business media.
3. Build and maintain strong relationships across key press outlets.
4. Proactively identify media opportunities that highlight the organisation'spliance, enforcement activity and strategic priorities.
5. Advise senior leaders, including Board members, on media‑handling strategies and reputational issues.
6. Contribute to an out‑of‑hours rota (one week in four).

What you'll need to succeed
Essential:
7. Proven experience in media relations or public relations with strong news judgement.
8. Excellent written and verbalmunication skills, with the ability to produce clear, engaging and accurate content.
9. A creative, self‑starting mindset with the ability to generate new ideas and opportunities.
10. Confidence translatingplex policy or legal information into accessible messaging.
11. Strong organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure, prioritising effectively in fast‑moving situations.
12. Ability to influence, persuade and advise stakeholders at senior levels.
Desirable:
13. Experience within a regulated environment, financial services or public sector.
14. Experience as an in‑house media officer.

This position is offered on a flexible, hybrid working basis. A minimum of one day per week will be worked from the organisation's offices in Brighton.
