The Human Tissue Governance Officer will be a key member of the ICHTB Governance Team, working closely with governance teams and research colleagues of all levels. The post holder will champion HTA-compliance, and research governance excellence across Imperial College Healthcare Trust, Imperial College and beyond.
Your main goal will be to ensure the ICHTB is HTA-inspection ready, ensure continuous compliance with our HRA REC approval to operate as a research tissue bank and ensure Data Protection regulations are followed.
You will be visible across the College and NHS Trust, supporting Principal Investigators and research teams with compliance and applications to consent, collect/ import, store and use human tissue for research under the ICHTB Governance framework.
You will lead the ICHTB Audit schedule and conduct audits across our HTA satellite sites, whilst demonstrating apt quality management oversight.
We are looking for a highly organised and detail‑oriented individual with a strong understanding of research governance and a commitment to supporting high‑quality, compliant research activity. The ideal candidate will bring:
1. Strong working knowledge of the Human Tissue Act, HTA Codes of Practice (particularly Code E Research), and Research Tissue Bank governance.
2. Experience conducting audits and monitoring compliance against regulatory standards, ideally within HTA‑regulated environments.
3. Previous involvement in tissue banking, clinical governance, research governance, or similar compliance‑focused roles.
4. Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear audit reports, guidance and correspondence for a range of stakeholders.
5. Confident interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships with Principal Investigators, clinical teams and technical staff.
