Overview
We are seeking an experienced Technical Sales Manager to join a globally operating manufacturer of passenger information systems for the public transport sector. The company designs, develops, and manufactures its products in the UK, with a growing presence through subsidiaries across Europe, North America, and Australasia.
Following a period of significant growth, the business is rolling out a cloud-based software platform that enables customers to remotely monitor and update onboard equipment in real time. This role presents an opportunity to play a key part in this exciting phase of digital transition and innovation.
The successful candidate will take ownership of technical sales activities, particularly focused on SaaS solutions and complex system offerings. This includes supporting existing sales teams on technical bids and tenders, and leading engagement for newly developed integrated products such as bus stop displays, requiring an understanding of both hardware and software.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead technical sales efforts with a focus on cloud-based SaaS platforms and complex systems.
* Build strong relationships with internal teams and external clients to support the migration from legacy to next-generation products.
* Conduct customer visits, product demonstrations, and manage technical sales queries, quotations, and tender documentation.
* Assist in onboarding customers to cloud-based platforms and ensure ongoing support and satisfaction.
* Identify and develop new business opportunities for recently launched software and integrated product lines.
* Monitor and report on the progress of customer roll-outs for cloud solutions.
* Stay informed on public transport industry trends and emerging technologies.
* Contribute to the development and execution of the technical and software sales strategy.
* Extensive experience in sales and customer management at a senior level.
* Proven track record of selling IT and cloud-based SaaS technologies.
* High technical aptitude, with the ability to quickly learn how hardware interfaces with serial, Ethernet, and other communication protocols.
* Strong understanding of cloud technologies and the ability to clearly explain technical concepts such as software functionality, hosting, and security to a range of stakeholders.
* Commercially astute with strong business analysis skills.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trust and effectively manage internal and external relationships.
* Capable of managing work and priorities in a fast-paced technical environment.
* Self-driven with a results-focused mindset.
* Knowledge or experience within the public transport or bus industry.
Desired Skills (Not Mandatory)
* Some familiarity with electronics and on-vehicle electrical systems (troubleshooting, hardware/software interface).

This is a newly created role with full responsibility for identifying and securing new clients in the region.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and execute a business development strategy to identify and close new opportunities in the UK public transport sector.
* Manage the full sales cycle, from initial outreach and qualification to product demonstrations, proposals, and contract negotiation.
* Engage with key decision-makers in both public and private organisations, often navigating complex procurement processes and long sales cycles.
* Collaborate with the Presales, Product, and Customer Success teams to tailor solutions to client needs.

Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications
* University degree required (Bachelor’s or higher) in a relevant field such as Business, Engineering, Technology or similar.

* Proven track record in new business development, with strong prospecting, negotiation, and closing capabilities.
* Solid understanding of the public transport, mobility, or infrastructure sectors, including engagement with both public and private operators.
* Experience managing long and consultative sales cycles, including public procurement processes.
* Fluent in English (C1 level or above), based in the UK, and open to travelling within the region (up to 30%).
Preferred Background
* Previous experience selling transport planning, ITS, fleet/ticketing systems, or related mobility technologies .
* Familiarity with recognised sales methodologies (e.g., MEDDIC, SPIN, Challenger ).
* International exposure or experience working in multicultural and cross-functional teams.
