Overview
Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Networks) - Digital role at NHS Scotland.
Responsibilities
This role will assist the Infrastructure Operations Manager (Networks) in ensuring the integrity of highly available network infrastructure in order to provide services to end users. The post holder will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, supporting, developing and in some cases designing communication networks throughout the NHSL estate, continuing the ongoing development of the NHSL data communications infrastructure. The services provided by the post holder have a direct impact on the continuity of patient care within NHSL.
What you'll need to bring
The post requires an individual who can demonstrate a high level of technical networking and oral communication skills. The post holder should be educated to degree level in an IT discipline and extensive experience in a network support role. The post holder must have proven experience of supporting multi-vendor networks and be familiar with prevailing network standards in the telecommunications industry, particularly with regard to Cisco technology solutions. Excellent communication and inter-personal skills and the ability to work within a team environment are essential to the success of the post holder. The post holder must be a car owner and have a full, clean UK driving license to enable the successful dispensation of the duties related to the post. Desirable qualifications and experience
* IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) qualified
* Proven track record within NHS
* Experience in monitoring platforms e.g. SolarWinds
* Firewall experience
* Proven track record in the regular use of Cisco and networking products in order to produce reports for service monitoring purposes
* Proven ability to support the administrative and service delivery aspects of a high pressure data comms support service covering around 14,000 end users
* Familiar with Infoblox, Fortinet and F5 products
* Knowledge of investigative and troubleshooting methodologies
* Working knowledge of NHS Scotland data communications platforms, policies and regulatory guidance
* Customer service orientation
* Proven workload planning skills
* Ability to handle multiple tasks
* Proven performance management skills
* Highly motivated and self-directed

Full time 37 hours. Please note this is a part time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.

This role will be based in Digital within Kirklands - NHSL Headquarters.
