Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity in the Gastroenterology and Screening Directorate for a full‑time Band 5 Clinical Audit Officer. Previous experience in undertaking audits and creating reports is essential.
The role will involve supporting the Senior Management team and Clinical Leads to undertake all necessary audits within the Directorate, including audits to ensure compliance with JAG (Endoscopy) accreditation and Screening SQAS. You will be responsible for ensuring that the audit programme is monitored and shared at departmental level.
You will also contribute to the implementation and management of the Trust and Departmental clinical audit and effectiveness programme. The post holder will work at both Brighton and Hayward's Heath, although the role is based at RSCH.

Main duties of the job
* Undertake and ensure the completion of clinical audit projects in cooperation with the operational lead for the project.
* Develop speciality‑wide project plans that compare current practice with evidence‑based best practice, with special attention to NICE guidelines, technology appraisals and international procedures.
* Oversee the administration of the audit programme required for national bodies such as SQAS and Joint Advisory Group (JAG), ensuring that data for these audits is collected accurately and submitted on time.
* Actively encourage client/patient involvement in clinical audit and seek opportunities to involve consumers/patients where this adds value.
* Provide appropriate support and advice on audit design and methodology, data analysis, report writing and presentations to healthcare professionals and managers undertaking clinical audit.
* Maintain relationships with representatives of other departments within the Trust to stay abreast of developments in national audit and governance initiatives that relate to the speciality and bring them to the attention of the nominated Lead.
* Support the Endoscopy Lead to meet departmental Audit Strategies.
* Support the Clinical Managers in undertaking any necessary clinical reviews.
* Utilise outcomes data to improve service provision.
* Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of wider clinical governance issues.
* Attend speciality meetings where appropriate.
* Support the Governance Lead during departmental quality and Gastroenterology Governance meetings.

Essential criteria
* Educated to A Level or equivalent level of knowledge and experience.
* Experience of working with complex data.
* Experience in undertaking audits.
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Evidence of having undertaken own development to improve understanding of equalities issues.
* Evidence of having championed diversity in previous roles (as appropriate to role).
* Ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines.
* Good communication skills.
Desirable criteria
* Knowledge of SQAS and JAG.
* Project Management qualification.
