Role Purpose
To carry out day-to-day operational tasks for road, air and sea freight shipments, ensuring smooth booking, tracking, customs clearance and delivery. A key part of the role involves managing seafreight imports from China and UK domestic road transport. The individual must have a solid working knowledge of Incoterms 2020 and how they apply to international logistics processes.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
* Seafreight and Airfreight – International imports, exports and cross trades
* Arrange FCL/LCL air bookings with freight forwarders and suppliers.
* Complete and verify all shipping documents (Bills of Lading, AWB, invoices, packing lists). CofO
* Track vessel movements, chase ETDs/ETAs, and update the internal schedule.
* Communicate with customs brokers and prepare documentation for clearance.
* Arrange container collection from UK ports and book warehouse delivery slots.
* Monitor demurrage/detention and escalate issues before cost liabilities arise.
* Apply correct Incoterms (e.g., FOB, EXW, CIF, DAP, DDP) to each shipment and ensure responsibilities, risk transfer points and cost allocations are clearly understood and followed.
* Logistics and planning for approximately 8 to10 exhibitions annually including the pre and post movements of all products
Road Freight (UK Domestic & European)
* Book UK pallet freight, full loads, and courier shipments.
* Issue delivery notes, pallet labels and booking references.
* Liaise with hauliers to confirm collection and delivery timings.
* Manage delivery exceptions, delays, and POD collection.
Operational Support & Administration
* Update ERP and planning platforms (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, Planner, Teams) with
shipment data.
* Maintain shipment trackers, cost logs, and freight spreadsheets.
* File and organise customs paperwork, PODs, and supplier documents.
* Support inbound stock processes with warehouses where required.
* Provide routine status updates to internal teams and customers.
* Assist finance team with LC documentation
Skills & Experience
Essential
* Experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or import/export administration.
* Practical working knowledge of Incoterms 2020 and how they impact freight bookings,
costs, liability and customs procedures.
* Understanding of seafreight and airfreight processes, ideally from China.
* Awareness of customs requirements, documentation flow and basic tariff rules.
* Strong communication and organisational skills.
* Good working knowledge of Letter of Credit (LC) requirements
* Intermediate Excel skills and general IT competence.
Desirable
* Understanding of duties, HS codes and basic landed cost calculations.
* Experience in road freight operations or transport planning.
