Salary: £80,000 - 80,000 per year Requirements: We are looking for a strong technical practitioner who is comfortable making important architectural and design decisions. You should possess knowledge of modern and established software architecture techniques and design patterns, with experience in model-based engineering. We value candidates who can provide technical mentorship, clearly articulate software architecture solutions, and collaborate effectively with software developers. The ability to communicate clearly and accurately at different levels, including influencing collaborators and internal customers, is essential. We seek an advocate for key software engineering practices such as continuous integration and good design. Additionally, you should be able to assess and communicate the trade-offs between various aspects of software architecture, focusing on design rationale. An understanding of software abstraction layers and the software stack is required, along with the experience to define and influence the tools, frameworks, and technologies we use. A strong programming background, preferably with experience in more than one language, is also expected. Responsibilities: As a Software Architect, you will be the author of the full software architecture, working with software delivery teams to define and monitor the Structural and Temporal Architecture, including the Internal/External interfaces of the product to meet requirements. You will identify, document, and take responsibility for the design drivers of the software solution, such as real-time performance, safety, security, user experience, simplicity, reusability, and flexibility. It will be your responsibility to produce derived and emergent requirements while capturing the assumptions and rationale. You will define the architecture to a point where implementation decisions do not affect its integrity. Collaboration will be critical in this role as you will work closely with other Architects, Technical Specialists, and key engineering contacts, supporting wider design activities and reviews. You will also influence the Software Engineering Technology Strategy, Software Product Lines, and new technologies by considering longer-term architectural strategies and being part of special interest groups and communities of interest.
