Overview
Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship at Walgreens. This role focuses on patient-centric service and pharmacy support as part of Walgreens' Pharmacy Technician Training Program.
Base pay range
$17.00/hr - $20.50/hr
Responsibilities
* In accordance with state and federal regulations, assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy. Assist the pharmacist in other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
* Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, assist with and coach pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and cashiers in operating the pharmacy cash registers.
* Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
* Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
* Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers and share customer service best practices with team members.
* Under pharmacist supervision, assist in the practice of pharmacy, review and comply with the Pharmacy Code of Conduct, and support workflow and inventory activities.
* Enter patient and drug information, ensure accuracy, fill prescriptions, verify medicine, check for interactions, and assist with scheduling and maintaining workflow.
* Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to Company policies related to pharmacy errors and quality improvement.
* Register sales on the assigned cash register, handle cash as required, and assist customers in locating products.
* Process third-party prescription service claims and perform other clerical duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
* Assist with inventory management, including ordering, unpacking, checking, storing shipments, and maintaining asset protection knowledge.
* Assist with clinical services, including sample collection and labeling as required, and coordinate with Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
* Develop and maintain good relationships with local medical providers through outreach and detailing to enhance growth opportunities.
* Maintain a stocked, clean, and orderly Pharmacy Department environment; comply with company policies and procedures; and complete special assignments as needed.
Training & Personal Development
* Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated program and/or state requirements; certification may be required for promotion.
* Attend training requested by Manager and pursue continuing education to stay current in healthcare and pharmacy knowledge.
Basic Qualifications
* Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
* Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
* Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
* Prefer prior experience with Walgreens.
* Prefer good math skills for accurate prescription filling (counting, measuring, weighing).
* Prefer good computer skills and knowledge of store inventory control.
* Prefer PTCB certification.
