Assistant Head of Curriculum - Maths ROLE DESCRIPTION We're looking for an inspiring and dynamic Assistant Head of Curriculum to help lead our brilliant Maths team at Newcastle College. If you're passionate about transforming learners' confidence in maths, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a real and lasting impact on GCSE and Functional Skills learners, supporting them to achieve their full potential. You'll work closely with the Head of Curriculum to drive high‑quality teaching, strong learner progress and an ambitious, positive culture across a team of dedicated Maths Teachers and Learning Mentors. Every day brings the chance to support staff, strengthen curriculum delivery, and create an environment for learners of all ages and backgrounds to succeed - from 16-18 study programme learners taking their next steps, to adults returning to education, to apprentices building essential workplace skills. In this role, you'll lead the operational delivery of the maths curriculum, champion quality improvement, use data intelligently to track progress, and support colleagues through coaching, performance development and collaborative working. You'll also contribute to our teaching delivery, modelling excellent practice and helping to drive consistency and outstanding learner experiences. We're looking for someone who brings energy, curiosity, high expectations and a deep commitment to learner achievement. You'll be a qualified maths teacher with experience of Functional Skills or GCSE delivery, confident in leading people, and enthusiastic about helping a team grow and thrive. If you're motivated by improving outcomes, building strong relationships and being part of a supportive, forward‑thinking department, you'll feel right at home here. Join us and help shape a maths provision that genuinely changes lives - for learners who need a fresh start, for those preparing for work, and for young people building their futures.
