We are working on behalf of our client to recruit an experienced and proactive Buyer / Lead Buyer to join their growing team at their Glasgow office. This is an exciting opportunity to step into a newly created role and play a key part in shaping the company's procurement function.
The successful candidate will lead the procurement of plant, materials, and subcontractors across a variety of commercial and residential construction projects. Additionally, they will take ownership of developing and implementing robust procurement processes and procedures, with a focus on consolidating purchasing activities and driving value throughout the supply chain.
This is a full-time, office-based position with the opportunity to make a tangible impact from day one.
Key Responsibilities
Establish and implement standardised procurement processes and procedures
Manage end-to-end procurement for plant, materials, and subcontracted services
Consolidate purchasing activity to increase efficiency and achieve cost savings
Build and maintain strong supplier and subcontractor relationships
Support project delivery through effective supply chain management
Negotiate commercial terms and manage supplier performance
Identify risks and work closely with internal teams to ensure project requirements are met
What We Are Looking For
Strong background in construction procurement or buying
Experience implementing procurement systems or improving processes
Knowledge of plant, materials, and subcontractor procurement in the construction sector
Confident negotiator with excellent commercial and communication skills
Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP or procurement systems
CIPS qualification (or working towards) is desirable
