An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join the multidisciplinary team at Bryngolau Ward, Prince Philip Hospital, Llanelli. This is a 30-hour post within Older Adult Mental Health, providing opportunity to develop and enhance your clinical skills within the OT framework.
The successful candidate will deliver holistic, client centred care, focusing on promoting independence and maintaining functional skills. You will work with the multidisciplinary team to support effective and safe discharge planning for patients. The post offers a chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults while developing professional expertise in a supportive environment.
You will have a specific interest in Older Adult Mental Health and should demonstrate enthusiasm for the role, with a view to developing best practice in line with Dementia Standards and A Healthier Wales.
The post holder will develop positive relationships with all healthcare professionals, statutory and voluntary agencies, and maintain good communication across all areas. You will assess, plan and intervene for clients experiencing cognitive loss, with a caseload including younger onset dementia and functional mental health issues. There is opportunity to develop group work skills and deliver evidence-based interventions such as Recovery Through Activity. Welsh language ability is desirable; English and/or Welsh speakers are welcome to apply.

This post is advertised as Band 6. Applicants who do not currently hold all required Band 6 competencies may apply and be appointed under Annex 21 rules with phased competency development over 36 months. After successful completion and attainment of required skills, pay will align to Band 6; failure to achieve competencies within the timeframe could lead to redeployment. Annex 21 includes protections against pay reductions during the process. Note: Newly Qualified OT applicants are not eligible.
Occupational Therapists have access to regular supervision and annual PADRs. Continuing professional development opportunities include Clinical Practice meetings, Clinical Case Supervision, Peer Support, and opportunities for Postgraduate qualifications.
