Health, Safety and Environment Manager – Wroxham, Norfolk
This key role works closely with the Senior Management Team to deliver a robust HSE strategy, ensure compliance and promote best practice across all sites. The role includes:
Responsibilities
* Serve as a single point of control / reference for all managers and employees, providing competent advice for all HSE issues in accordance with statutory requirements, company policies and procedures.
* Lead the HSE team, including performance management and development of individuals.
* Ensure the successful development and implementation of the Health, Safety and Environment strategy across all sites.
* Maintain a robust and sustainable health and safety management system aligned to industry standards.
* Direct the business on all HSE, legislative and regulatory compliance matters and chair meetings with operational teams to ensure all facilities meet exceptional HSE standards.
* Build relationships with the operational teams to understand compliance challenges and proactively provide solutions.
* Ensure all HSE policies and procedures are kept up to date.
* Maintain an HSE risk register and understand insurance impacts on risk management.
* Ensure critical working practices, such as processes for major events, are understood and followed by employees and contractors.
* Complete the annual training plan for HSE, identifying development and regulatory needs and contributing to training delivery.
* Manage the HSE budget and oversee all relevant data collection, record keeping and reporting at committee meetings.
* Document and track accidents and incidents, implementing appropriate remedial actions and learning.
* Manage external specialist suppliers or consultants to ensure comprehensive HSE provision.
* Keep up to date with all aspects of relevant HSE and welfare at work legislation and communicate relevant changes to the business.
About you
* Strong working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation within a production / manufacturing environment.
* Knowledge and understanding of ISO14001/45001.
* Understanding of production of yachts or other similar large products with long build times, preferable.
* Competent user of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
* Presentation skills, both preparation of PowerPoint presentations and delivery to a variety of audiences along with strong written communication skills.
* Planning, organising and prioritising skills.
* Experience of performing an HSE management or partnering role within production / manufacturing industry, preferably marine and leading management teams on HSE compliance and best practices.
* Experience of conducting audits and action plans and planning / delivery of training.
* Knowledge of UK RIDDOR and equivalent EU regulation.
* Experience with management of third‑party suppliers and Fire Marshalling.
* Experience of Display Screen Equipment assessments.
* Knowledge of Occupational Health Surveillance, relating to production workforce.
* Experience of HAVS management is desirable.
* Experience of COSHH management is desirable.
Qualifications
NEBOSH general certificate, IOSH or other HSE industry recognised qualification.
Other Requirements
The postholder may be required to work on other sites in the UK and occasionally internationally.
