Department The School for Social Care Research (SSCR), funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), formally began work in May 2009 and, over three five-year phases, has delivered a significant portfolio of social care research and raised the national profile of social care research via a range of core activities. The SSCR is a partnership of leading centres of academic social care research in England. The current five-year phase of the SSCR commenced in May 2024 and the members l include: The Universities of Sheffield, Leeds, York, Bristol, Birmingham and the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Since its inception, the directorship of the SSCR has been based at LSE but will transition to the University of York at the start of the next phase. Role The Communications & Events Officer will support the delivery of SSCR communications and events activity as part of a collaborative programme team. The role will focus on maintaining established communications channels, including the SSCR website, social media and mailing lists, as well as providing practical support for a range of internal and external events. This includes supporting programme meetings, conferences and other activity across the School. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong organisational and communication skills who enjoys working across a varied workload in a fast-paced research environment. This is a fixed-term contract until 30 April 2029.
