About the College
Cambian Pengwern College is a 52-week placement provision, with a proud and successful tradition of supporting students aged 16–25 who have Moderate to Severe Learning Disabilities and Complex Needs, including some challenging behaviours. The college aims to offer opportunities to a wider range of young people and adults through ongoing developments across all areas of the college.
The college is registered with the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW) and Estyn. Our person-centred approach ensures each student has an individualised learning programme that matches needs, decisions and aspirations, with a focus on daily living skills, vocational qualifications or independent living. We are proud that students gain important life skills and meaningful qualifications, evidencing our commitment to increasing choice and independence.
As a member of the dedicated teams allocated to each young person, you’ll have a vital role in helping our students learn and develop skills for life and share our passion to help children be the very best they can be. The Headteacher is seeking to appoint an aspiring Teacher to join this thriving specialist college. Reporting to the Headteacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and challenging lessons and for contributing to the department and school aims. You should be an enthusiastic, flexible and determined individual who shares our values and is looking to develop their career in this specialist area.
Essential
Qualified or experienced in Animal Care
Person Specification
* Understanding of teaching, learning and qualifications
* Experience of working in non-mainstream settings with challenging learners
* Ability to empathise and support the development of learning
* Robust understanding of safeguarding procedures
* Ability to work as part of a small team
* Excellent delivery and communication skills
* You must be reliable, flexible, adaptable, and possess the ability to motivate and inspire.
* Good coordination and organisational skills
* Demonstrable track record of student achievement
* Innovative, fast thinking and versatile
* Excellent time management
* Good general level of ICT skills including Microsoft Office
* Experience of working with E3/L1 qualifications
* Relevant teaching qualification or vocational experience – Essential
* You will hold relevant, professional teaching qualification such as; degree or PGCE or equivalent.
