We are seeking a highly motivated HCPC/NMC registered Operating Department Practitioner/Theatre Nurse to provide high-quality care for patients undergoing foot and ankle procedures. Experience in Orthopedic/Podiatric Surgery scrub and previous Band 6 theatre/management is essential.
The role involves working with Podiatric Surgery Consultants, Registrars, Podiatrists, ODPs, Theatre Assistants, HCAs, and administrative staff. The service offers outpatient clinics and day surgery at Danetre Hospital Daventry, operating from Monday to Friday.
Main duties include supporting the theatre team in delivering surgical lists, assisting in clinics, and managing administrative tasks linked to service delivery. The postholder will deputise for the Theatre Team Lead, ensuring a positive patient experience and maintaining high standards of care.
Responsibilities:
1. Work as Senior Theatre Practitioner alongside Podiatric Surgeons to ensure safe, high-quality care during foot and ankle surgeries.
2. Coordinate departmental activities, including the Day Surgery unit and clinics.
3. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure facilities and resources are available for efficient patient care.
4. Support in developing skills in anaesthetics and care of deteriorating patients, if not already held.
5. Maintain equipment and adapt skills to work with different surgeons and specialties.
6. Assist with the daily running of theatre lists and clinics, including administrative duties.
7. Supervise and support training of other staff members.
8. Complete audits, stock checks, and support service improvements.
Experience in anaesthetics and patient deterioration care is beneficial but not essential. The role requires flexibility to work across theatre, pre-operative assessment, and dressing clinics, developing skills as needed.
