The Department of French at the University of Bristol seeks to appoint a Teaching Associate in French from 15th June 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter until 30^th April 2027. This is a full-time fixed term post at 1 FTE at grade I on Pathway 3. This is a fixed term cover post while the current post-holder is on secondment elsewhere in the department.
The successful candidate will have fluent or near fluent competence in French and English, a relevant first degree, a postgraduate language teaching qualification and experience of language teaching in the higher education sector in the UK. Ideally, they will be a Fellow of Advanced HE.
French Studies is an integral part of a dynamic and forward-looking School of Modern Languages in the Faculty of Arts, Law and Social Sciences. French language is studied by highly qualified and well-motivated undergraduates either as a mandatory part of a Single Honours degree, as part of a Joint Honours degree with another modern language, or as part of a Joint Honours degree with another subject. French language is also taught as an option to students from all Faculties of the University and as part of the University-Wide Language Programme (UWLP).
What will you be doing?
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute flexibly across the full range of French language teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level. They will also support the French language team in Modern Languages in developing the up-to-date teaching methods and materials and disseminating good teaching practice and will make an administrative contribution to language-related activities, including the Year Abroad.
