Head of Service – Community Safety
INTERNAL VACANCY
An incredible opportunity to gain valuable experience working at Head of Service level as we seek to ensure the service can deliver our statutory Community Safety responsibilities into the future.
Responsibilities
* Influence and shape strategic crime reduction strategies and policies for the City of York Council and its statutory partners.
* Provide innovative solutions to crime, anti‑social behaviour (ASB), substance misuse and fear of crime where no bespoke solution is available.
* Influence the strategic contribution of all statutory partners and other key stakeholders engaged in crime and disorder reduction to ensure their policies and processes support the delivery of the Community Safety Strategy.
* Influence and shape partner activities so that policies and processes support the delivery of the Anti‑social Behaviour, Crime & Policing Act 2014 and lead City of York Council’s statutory duty under the Counter Terrorism and Security Act 2015, Serious Violence Duty and Prevent Duty.
* Work across York and North Yorkshire to deliver the statutory Community Safety responsibilities to the future.
* Collaborate with statutory partners and key stakeholders to support the delivery of the Community Safety Strategy.
Qualifications / Requirements
* Competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English at CEFR level C2 (spontaneous, natural conversational flow).

* Open to CYC, WWY and Be Independent employees; Explore and Veritau employees are not eligible.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
