Highways Maintenance and Network Management
Staffordshire County Council invites applications for four posts within the Highways Team. The role will be based at one of the four highway operational depots in Leek, Stone, Gailey or Lichfield, combining site‑based and office‑based work.
Main Responsibilities
* Develop programmes of routine, reactive, cyclical and winter highway maintenance works in conjunction with our operational partners.
* Prioritise workstacks based on risk and community interest.
* Develop, maintain and review service specifications for emergency, routine, reactive, cyclical and winter highway maintenance services.
* Review annual service plans submitted by delivery partners.
* Develop, agree and review the performance management framework for highway maintenance contracts with key stakeholders and contractors.
* Lead public engagement for highway maintenance services and communications across multiple formats.
Ideal Candidate
* Degree or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant discipline.
* Experience in the management or delivery of emergency, reactive, routine and cyclical highway maintenance.
* Knowledge of statutory obligations of highway authorities, highway inspections and work identification procedures.
* Understanding of design standards, guidance and statutory requirements associated with highway maintenance activities.
* Experience of contract and performance management with providers to deliver services.
* Ability to develop and maintain partnerships to support ongoing service delivery.
