Job Overview
Are you an experienced Respiratory or Sleep Physiologist seeking a new challenge? Our expanding team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals invites you to join us.
You will join a supportive team of 14 Respiratory Consultants across two hospital sites. We are developing new services for airway management, vocal cord dysfunction, breathing disorders, and complex asthma, alongside ongoing improvements in Sleep and CPAP services.
Main Duties
You will conduct a variety of respiratory investigations, including Spirometry, Diffusion studies, Plethysmography, Bronchial challenge testing, Six-minute walk tests, and Muscle pressure tests (MIPS/MEPS/SNIP). Support for Sleep/CPAP services will include Overnight Oximetry, Multi-Channel Sleep studies, and CPAP therapy reviews and setups. Responsibilities
* Maintain high standards of technical and clinical competence.
* Perform and report lung function tests, including Spirometry, diffusion studies, lung volume measurements, 6-minute walk tests, and muscle pressure tests, adhering to national standards.
* Conduct and analyze Overnight Oximetry and sleep studies.
* Contribute to the daily operations of the Sleep and CPAP services.
* Ensure calibration and quality control of equipment.
* Support department management, including personnel and facilities management.
* Act as a role model and represent the organization positively.
* Address issues locally and report outcomes to line managers.
* Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external organizations.
* Participate in education, training, and research activities.
* Maintain and develop professional skills and knowledge.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Education
* Degree in Clinical Physiology, PTP, or equivalent
* RCCP registration or equivalent
* Postgraduate studies or willingness to undertake them
* ILS certification
* ARTP parts 1 and 2 or equivalent respiratory knowledge
Knowledge & Experience
* Experience as a respiratory physiologist in lung function and sleep
* Clinical competence in respiratory investigations
* Ability to manage own workload
