Structural Designer / Drafter – Newcastle
We are looking for a Structural Designer / Drafter to join our current group of passionate engineers, designers and project managers.
Key Responsibilities
* Set up and manage project models and drawing sets in line with the BIM Execution Plan, naming conventions, coordinates, and worksets.
* Develop and maintain Revit families/AutoCAD blocks and standard details.
* Produce reinforcement detailing and schedules (bar bending lists) for walls, slabs, tanks and associated structural components.
* Detail construction and movement joints, penetrations, and waterproofing elements to meet durability and leakage performance.
* Coordinate interfaces with civil, geotechnical, mechanical and architectural disciplines; participate in model reviews.
* Prepare concept, tender and construction deliverables (GA plans, sections, details, notes) and manage revisions, transmittals and document control in the common data environment (e.g. ACC).
* Assist with quantity take‑offs from models/drawings and support buildability reviews.
* Support design verification and QA/QC: check prints, red‑pen mark‑ups, self‑checks, peer reviews and maintain drafting checklists.
* Provide construction‑phase support: respond to RFIs, issue mark‑ups/sketches and produce as‑built/record drawings.
* Contribute to continuous improvement: maintain templates and standards, capture lessons learned and mentor junior drafters.
Qualifications
* Completed relevant tertiary qualifications.
* Experience producing structural designs and drawings in AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit.
* Proven experience drafting and detailing concrete and steel structures with a sound understanding of construction methodologies and buildability.
* Demonstrated knowledge of Australian Standards and Codes and ability to interpret and apply them to deliver compliant drawings and models.
* Strong problem‑solving skills, meticulous attention to detail, and rigorous checking/quality control.
* Well‑developed verbal and written communication skills; proven ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
* Commitment to safety‑first, risk‑based approach to design delivery and adherence to company HSEQ systems.
* Enthusiastic and motivated to learn from peers and senior team members.
Desirable
* Interest or experience in water and wastewater treatment.
