Job Title: Principal C&I Engineer
Location:
Barrow-in-Furness, Manchester, Frimley (Hybrid – Travel to Barrow 3-4 times per month). Flexible working arrangements available; discuss options with your recruiter.
What You’ll Be Doing:
1. Lead engineering activities for supply and delivery of Controls and Instrumentation equipment supporting system testing and building.
2. Maintain detailed records of part maturity, delivery status, and schedules.
3. Specify equipment, analyze requirements, and create Parts and BOMs.
4. Understand customer needs and develop, validate, and manage C&I requirements.
5. Collaborate with system owners, suppliers, and customers to support manufacturing and on-time delivery.
6. Compile technical documentation for design, delivery, validation, verification, testing, qualification, and manufacturing.
7. Define tests and perform testing on systems and equipment.
8. Integrate electronic, mechanical, and software subsystems, considering their impact on the entire system.
9. Lead technical work packages, managing design and deliverables.
Your Skills and Experience:
1. Strong understanding of C&I system design and relevant career experience.
2. Degree or equivalent in STEM (Engineering, Physics, Maths, Science).
3. Knowledge of system engineering lifecycle and practices.
4. Familiarity with Defence and Industry standards (e.g., IEC 61508/61511, ARP 4754, DO-178C/DO-254).
5. Chartered engineer or working towards this qualification.

About the Team:
As a Principal (C&I) Engineer, you will work within a subsystem engineering team designing, developing, integrating, and supporting control systems for submarines. The role involves high integrity control systems for submarine maneuverability, employing advanced technologies. Relocation support is available for eligible roles.
