The role
Based at our Headington campus and reporting to the Head of Management Accounts, the Management Accounts Officer will play a key role in supporting the University’s financial operations. This includes providing expert financial advice, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The role involves close collaboration with budget holders, academic staff, and external partners to support financial planning, monitoring, and reporting. The postholder will contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes, assist with payroll and claims, and provide high-quality customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
The role will close on 7th December 2025 @ 23.30.

About the team
The Management Accounts team sits within the Finance & Legal Services Directorate and is responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial support across the University. The team works closely with academic faculties, professional services, and external partners to ensure financial compliance, effective budget management, and strategic financial planning. This collaborative and agile team supports a wide range of financial activities, including reporting, forecasting, and systems development, and plays a vital role in enabling the University to meet its financial goals.
What will I be doing?
* Supporting the budgeting and forecasting processes across departments.
* Preparing and analysing monthly financial reports and year-end positions.
* Processing and reconciling payroll accounts and financial transactions.
* Advising staff on financial regulations and system usage.
* Coordinating payments and claims, including associate pay and placement costs.
* Ensuring compliance with financial policies and external funding requirements.
* Liaising with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors and funding bodies.
* Maintaining and improving financial data systems and reporting structures.
What skills do I need?
* Substantial experience in financial administration within a complex organisation.
* Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in handling financial data.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and meet deadlines.

About the location
Based at our, you’ll experience the vibrant campus atmosphere and benefit from our modern office environment. The campus is one mile from the centre of Oxford and is served by regular public transport. This role will be hybrid and we expect there will be a 50/50 split between home and office working.
