About the Role
We are hiring a Research Assistant to support cutting-edge audio research within a state-of-the-art data collection facility based near Cambridge. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside engineers and researchers developing next-generation technologies focused on redefining how people hear and communicate in complex environments.
You will play a key role in supporting data collection, working directly with participants, and ensuring high-quality data and metadata capture. Over time, you will also take ownership of running experiments and supporting technical demonstrations.
Key Responsibilities
* Support and execute data collection activities in a controlled research environment
* Work closely with engineers during data collection campaigns
* Assist participants (internal & external) and guide them through tasks and processes
* Accurately record, manage, and validate metadata with high attention to detail
* Coordinate with project teams for scheduling and smooth daily operations
* Conduct data validation and quality checks
* Support experiment setup and simple technical configurations
* Run selected data collection sessions and demonstrations independently
* Assist with administrative and operational tasks as required
Required Skills & Experience (Non-Negotiable)
* Bachelor’s degree (e.g. Natural Sciences, Psychology, Humanities or similar)
* 2–4 years’ experience in research, data collection, or experimental environments
* Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
* Experience working with participants / stakeholders (good interpersonal skills)
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or similar tools
Nice to Have
* Basic programming knowledge (Python or R)
* Experience working with prototype devices
* Understanding of audio (academic or practical – e.g. music production, recording)
