Overview of the role
We are looking for a Senior Rail Operations Consultant to join our growing team.
From Northern Powerhouse Rail and East West Rail, supporting light rail in the United States, to planning the future of the rail network in the Republic of Ireland, the rail operations team in Mott MacDonald work globally to enable and enhance the provision of rail services.
As a Senior Rail Operations Consultant, you will collaborate across the wider Mott MacDonald group, with experienced professionals both in the UK and internationally delivering a diverse project portfolio.
We are looking for an individual with rail operational planning and modelling experience, to support our broader team undertaking analysis using systems such as Railsys and ATTUne, alongside working with our engineering design teams to provide that crucial operational integration to ensure project success.

Candidate specification
Essential
* Expertise in rail operational planning, timetable production, capacity analysis, and performance modelling
* An appreciation of the wider rail engineering disciplines offering a whole system approach
* Experienced user of RailSys modelling tool in all three modules: infrastructure, timetable and evaluation
* Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data and drive informed decision-making
* Knowledge of train planning software tools such ATTUne, TPS or similar
* Strong report writing and presentation skills, effectively communicating modelling results to diverse audiences
* Experience of engaging with external stakeholders and interfacing with clients
Desirable
* Experience in other rail operations modelling tools such as Treno, OpenTrack, and RTC
* Experience in rolling stock and train crew diagramming
* Strategic operational knowledge covering concepts of operations, train crew strategies, and network access
* Experience across metro, light-rail, and tram-train transport modes
* International experience with knowledge of transport markets across the Republic of Ireland, North America, Australasia, and the Middle East
