As an EMHP, you will deliver CBT Evidence-Based Interventions for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health and behavioral problems in various Education Settings.
You will assist children and young people with more severe issues to access specialist services and support staff in educational settings to promote positive mental health.
Working within educational environments to improve access to mental health services, identifying and escalating risks appropriately.
Main duties of the job
Deliver outcome-focused, evidence-based interventions in educational settings for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
Support children, young people, their families, and educators in managing mental health issues.
Develop and practice evidence-based skills, working with children, families, and educators to develop treatment plans and achieve outcomes.
Collaborate with children, young people, and parents/carers to formulate and develop treatment plans.
Provide individual and group interventions for children and young people.
Participate in case discussions, multi-agency meetings, and supervision to maintain high standards of care.

Applicants must have completed the 1-year Post Graduate Certificate in Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) course. We welcome applications from qualified EMHPs and trainees finishing or who have recently finished their training.
You must be registered or in the process of registering as an EMHP with BABCP or BPS. Verification will occur during interview and pre-employment checks. This is mandatory for working within an NHS commissioned service.
Applications from children and young people's wellbeing practitioners (CWP) are not accepted unless currently working in an MHST service prior to 1st October 2024.
Person Specification
Experience
* Managing caseloads of children and young people with mild to moderate mental health needs
* Working within community mental health settings
* Delivering evidence-based psychological interventions
* Providing group-based interventions
* Working with children and families in hospital or community settings
Knowledge
* Understanding of CYP-IAPT principles and outcome measures
* Safeguarding responsibilities and multi-agency working
* Child development
* Knowledge of the educational system in England
* Understanding systemic influences on difficulties
Skills and Abilities
* Assessing, planning, and implementing care for young people with complex needs
* Effective communication and empathy with young people and families
* Recognising limits and seeking support
* Delivering therapeutic techniques in individual and group settings
Qualifications
* Graduate Diploma in Educational Health Practice for Children and Young People (EMHP)
* Registered or registering with BABCP or BPS
