Description
Our Credit Hire and Repair team works with over 40 insurance companies and self-insured corporates. The team handles all aspects of defendant credit hire dispute resolution, providing an end‑to‑end solution. The team also offers pre‑emptive advice on these issues and assists clients in formulating their own strategies. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Paralegal to develop their career.
The team handles claims from small track to multi‑track, including fraudulent claims. Additionally, the team manages liability, indemnity and associated losses, including personal injury, credit repair and diminution.
This role can be based from our Birmingham or Newport office, or work remotely with the expectation that the successful candidate will attend one of these offices at least once per month for training and client events.
Remote working applications will be considered based on relevant experience and the ability to commute to either office as required.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide a timely, professional and high‑quality service to clients in the management of litigated vehicle hire and damage cases.
* Manage a varied caseload of litigated work with appropriate supervision.
* Act as a point of contact for clients, demonstrating appropriate knowledge and skill.
* Comply with internal and external service level agreements.
* Record timely and accurate management information.
* Meet individual performance measures.
* Support marketing and business development activity within the team (e.g. attending marketing events, client training, clinics and shadowing days).
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
* At least 2 years’ experience handling litigated motor claims and managing a caseload; experience in credit hire is essential.
* Prioritisation and organisation skills – the ability to manage time, recognise priority and seek help when necessary.
* Good interpersonal skills to liaise with customers, clients and colleagues and be a real team player.
* Strong oral and written communication skills.
* Analytical skills – the ability to critically review evidence, identify key legal arguments and apply them.
* IT skills – IT literate with a good working knowledge of Excel and Word.
* Commercial awareness – the ability to run a case within given fee structures.
* Resilience – the ability to stand ground in telephone negotiations and receive feedback.
* Aptitude to learn – the ability to acquire new skills and retain knowledge.
