Unit Bio: If you're looking for a diverse role that allows you to use technical, interpersonal, and administrative skills, then a career as a Nursing Unit Secretary might be ideal for you. Unit secretaries play a vital role in the healthcare industry by supporting patients and medical professionals. The Nursing Unit Secretary performs clerical, receptionist, and transporter duties. The ideal candidate will have strong customer service skills, effective communication skills, and the ability to multi-task. The Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) cares for critically ill patients requiring surgery or recovering from surgery. Patients in this unit may be too unstable for regular nursing floors, and ICU-level monitoring may be required. The unit is managed by physicians with surgical backgrounds. The staff have created a work environment that values excellence, teamwork, and peer support.
Summary: The Nursing Unit Secretary performs clerical, receptionist, and transporter duties.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
1. Education: High School diploma or GED preferred.
2. License/Certifications: Current BLS certification preferred or may be required based on location.
3. Experience: One year of hospital or healthcare setting preferred.
