We’re looking for skilled, committed people who care about students and their experience of higher education. Join us and you’ll be part of an energetic, forward-looking organisation with high ambitions and big opportunities for our people. About the role We are seeking an Information Management and Governance Officer to help ensure our information and records are managed in line with operational and statutory requirements. Working within the Knowledge and Information Management (KIM) team, you will play a central role in embedding good information management practice while contributing to wider governance activities that support transparency, accountability, and regulatory decision‑making. The role has a strong focus on records management, including developing and maintaining retention schedules, advising on good recordkeeping, supporting the effective use of corporate systems such as SharePoint and other EDRMS platforms, and helping prepare records for transfer to The National Archives in line with Public Records Act (PRA) requirements. Alongside this, you will contribute to broader governance work, including supporting data protection activity such as Data Protection Impact Assessments and related work under UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018, and championing a culture of privacy by design, as well as assisting with information rights requests under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), working closely with colleagues to resolve issues in a proportionate and pragmatic way. We’re looking for someone with solid information management experience who also brings a working familiarity with key information governance legislation, and an interest in how these disciplines interact. You’ll be comfortable advising colleagues, exercising judgement in grey areas, and balancing legal requirements with operational realities. This is an opportunity to apply your expertise in a high‑profile regulatory organisation, within a supportive team that values thoughtful governance, collaboration, and continuous professional development. Qualifications We welcome applicants who hold, or are working towards, one or more of the following: Masters degree or Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) in Archives and Records Management or an advanced level qualification in a relevant discipline Practitioner Certificate in Records Management Records Management / Information Governance apprenticeship or equivalent vocational qualification Working for us The OfS regulates the higher education sector on behalf of all students. Flexibility is important to the OfS, as we recognise that it can enable people to work more effectively. A set of organisation-wide principles shape our approach to flexible and hybrid working, which our teams then use as guidance on how they deliver their business goals.
