Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant - Secondary (Physical Disabilities)

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, term-time only
Pay rate:£89- £110 per day dependent on experience
We are currently recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary school in the ST21 area. The school caters for students aged 11-19 with a range of physical disabilities, as well as associated learning and communication needs. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity to be part of a nurturing, inclusive environment where students are encouraged to develop confidence, independence, and resilience.
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
* Provide 1:1 or small group support to students with physical and complex needs
* Assist with mobility, personal care, and use of specialist equipment (full training provided)
* Work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and external professionals to meet EHCP outcomes
* Support students in accessing a broad, balanced, and engaging curriculum
* Build strong, trusting relationships that help students thrive socially and emotionally
* Promote student independence while maintaining high levels of care and safety
* Previous experience working with students with physical disabilities or additional needs (in schools or a transferable setting)
* A calm, patient, and proactive approach to support and behaviour
* Confidence in assisting with personal care or medical routines (or willingness to train)
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* A DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one
* Be part of a committed and caring specialist education team
* Make a genuine impact on the lives of young people with physical and learning needs
* Receive training in areas such as manual handling, communication strategies, and medical care
